About BNW Builders

In 1989 I was given the opportunity to take over a replacement window company in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Just out of college and originally from Chicago, my title of Vice President and part-owner of the company was a welcomed challenge. To centralize the operations that covered the entire state of Virginia, the company's headquarters was moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1990. After many years that included traveling up and down Interstates' 64 and 95, it was time to stay closer to home and spend more time with my wife and children. I decided to resign and open up my own company and focus my business on the local Richmond communities. In April 2004, BNW Builders was born.

About Our Staff

The BNW Builders' staff is headed by Vice President of Operations, Tim Moore, also known as "my right hand man". His 20 years of experience in our industry has allowed him to see everything and expect anything. Tim is hard working and trustworthy and has been a fabulous addition to our team.

BNW Builders prides itself with specialized installers. Specialization gives attention to detail as they are masters of their trade. Bill, my lead window installer, has worked with me for over fifteen years. My siding and roofing crews have been with me since I started work in each of these areas. BNW Builders chose "A NAME YOU CAN TRUST" as our slogan because of the questionable reputation the home improvement industry has acquired over the years. It all starts with how we advertise. BNW Builders will not put false information on our advertisements. Many companies offer various types of discounts ranging from 5% to 50%. I ask 5% to 50% off of what? The Answer- off of an imaginary number. Typically a company will just inflate the initial price and then take the "advertised discount" off of the price. Have you seen "free installation"? I don't know of many installers, or people for that matter that work for free. Do you? How about companies offering items for "free" or window trade-ins/window rebates? Companies say that they will buy your old windows from you for $50 to $130 per window! This is one of the oldest gimmicks around. Your old windows go in the garbage once removed from your home. Again, the opening price you are quoted is inflated so that the amount of the "trade-in/rebate" that is advertised can be justified to you. I am not 100% innocent here. Years ago I used to use some of these advertising methods. I didn't know any better. This is what I was taught throughout my years in this industry. When I first opened up BNW Builders I used some old methods of advertising. A few months after BNW Builders was born I decided that I didn't want to advertise this way anymore. All of the years advertising dishonestly just because everybody else did had to come to an end. It's not what I want to build my business on or have my family name associated with. This was a big step for me in my life and a turning point for my business. Through prayer I was able to come to peace with myself and created an HONEST way of advertising. To further ensure your trust in BNW Builders, we do not accept a down payment on any job that we do. We accept payment in full when the job is completed and you are satisfied.

Royal Building Products is one of North America's largest manufacturers of vinyl building products. The siding panels and colors they offer are second to none. BNW Builders is the exclusive dealer for Royal Building Products DuraPlank Reinforced siding in the Central Virginia area. Designed to compete against fiber cement siding, DuraPlank is a single 7" profile that has a natural wood look and can withstand winds up to 265 miles per hour. When asked why we stopped selling fiber cement, our answer is simple, the insulation value and warranty. DuraPlank is the only insulated siding panel in the industry that uses an extruded (XPS) foam backing. DuraPlank has a system R-Value of 3.46 consistently. The DuraPlank warranty is far superior to that of fiber cement. Fiber cement will typically have a one year labor warranty and a prorated material warranty. My wife is the love of my life. Laura is my backbone. Without her, there is no way that I would be where I am right now. Laura's patience and understanding has allowed me to spend countless hours at the office and on jobsites while she holds down the fort at home. Laura understands the importance of how to treat our clientele as well as our employees and knows my customer service is of strong value. In addition to working part-time as a physical therapist, Laura is a wonderful mother to our three children. I don't know how she does it.
