We had three major goals in mind while seeking someone to redo our home with Vinyl siding price, quality of product, and quality of installation.
The price of siding contracts put before us by several companies was at times hard to muddle through trying to get a fix on quality of the siding, whether shutters or dental molding were included, and would the expenditure be recovered after selling our home. We looked at 5 companies, and decided on BNW builders even though their mid range quote was not the cheapest but rather the best price for the highest quality of materials now available- one has to think about durability, looks, and resale value. It was also nice not to get any high pressure sales tactic during the contract proposal- honestly some of these sales men are hard to take or even to listen too as they foolishly try to impress you with the un-impressible. Perhaps, at their peril, they feel you wont check out their assertions.
Duraplank was the siding offered by BNW builders and it by far outmatched the others in technology of design towards thickness, wind resistance, moisture release, mold resistance, looks as far as texture, sheen, length of seams, and availability of pleasing colors. Some of the others offered siding look rather plastic, weak, two courses high, and carried no luster in appearance. We have previously built 2 homes in MN and have gone through a myriad of problems with vinyl siding blowing off in a stiff wind, buckling, and denting of the siding upon minor bumps.
The unknown quality of the workers doing the installation made us nervous about the type of people we would have working on our home. After going through a repainting of the house 4 years ago, where the workers look like prison rejects, talking on cell phones while painting, taking more breaks then I could count during which they tried to talk me into changing a sound roof by saying it was rotted or telling me about some horrible life happening that it made me afraid of even going out to check on their progress. The men BNW sent over were very respectful, hard working, eager to please and easy to converse with. In fact I was encourage to follow their progress, and immediately let them know when I had questions about the way they did something which I did daily, and much to my pleasure, the few times this happen, it was fixed or explained to my satisfaction that day or the next. My 18 year old daughter even remarked about how hard and well they worked being so impressed she made them a batch of Rice Krispies which is impressive seeing how busy teenagers lives are these days.
I took the time to write this letter because I wanted other home owners to know that honesty and quality of workmanship is still alive and well in America as epitomized by builders like BNW. Bruce’s word is his bond as we happily found out.
P.S. We had thoughts of selling our home shortly, but after seeing how beautiful it turned out we intend to stay many more years- thanks BNW builders.
